I was more than a little excited to open the post  and discover a copy of this month’s Sewing World magazine, I *may* have let out a squeal of excitement and jumped around from foot to foot doing an enthusiastic a happy dance. It’s been a long time coming but I’m thrilled the day has finally arrived and my words are right there in black and white printed on something I can actually touch and flick through, accompanied by photos of some of my favourite plush makes. I was over the moon when Julie Briggs the editor of the magazine asked me last year if I’d be interested in writing a series of fabric guides for them and I jumped at the chance. The article this month is focused on plush (minky) fabric (I am a Plush Addict, right?) what it’s like, the different kinds available, how to handle it with some top tips.

It’s a bumper issue and as well as my article theres a fabulous satchel tutorial, a pencil skirt pattern and detailed tutorial, how to make a funky free motion embroidered pencil case which is perfect for back to school, a master class on curtain making and there’s a “collect and keep” booklet on toy makes as well as the first of a six part series from Vilene giving you the low down on their interfacing which I shall be following with interest.
