There’s never a dull moment over at Plush Towers. I write with big news – we’re on the move! Unfortunately the time in our Edenbridge warehouse has come to an end, we’ve looked for commercial premises within the vicinity and there is very little currently available, and what there is isn’t suitable or is twice the price we’re used to. Good morning lovelies. I thought I’d just quickly let you know that we have a whopping 15% off Kona cotton until this Saturday 15th August. Grab your Kona at only £6.80 whilst you can.
We’ve sold out of some colours already but do have another delivery arriving today or tomorrow so just get in touch if you can’t see the colour you’d like…
The Flurry range from Dashwood Studios has become a firm stock staple for many of you and what’s not to like? It’s a fun, contemporary supporting print in some gorgeous colours. We’ve been asked to colour match Dashwood Studios Flurry with Kona a few times now so we’ve linked the two collections on the website as “Related Products” but I thought I’d list them here for anyone to stumble upon. Our lovely Michael Miller rep came to see me yesterday armed with a suitcase full of pretties. Here are some of the highlights due over the next few months for your drooling pleasure!
Christmas! I thought I’d chosen all of my Christmas fabric already but I couldn’t resist some of the Michael Miller pretties that are due around May. “All The Trimmings” has some cute owls, funky Christmas lights and trees. Continue reading “Sneaky Peek: Upcoming Michael Miller Fabrics”
Well this past week has been a bit of a whirlwind of highs and lows at Plush Towers. The low is that our heating in the warehouse has broken and it’s been close to arctic. We’re still in hats, gloves and scarves and hoping that Mr British Gas is true to his word and gets us warmed up again TODAY (cross your fingers, or send us a blanket?) but I must say that icicles aside I’ve been riding high on the news that we came away with a few gongs from the 2014 British Sewing Awards. Continue reading “We Won In The British Sewing Awards! Thanking You Muchly”
I think Ann Kelle’s Monkeys Royal was one of the very first quilt cotton fabrics we stocked, and we still carry it today. “Urban Zoologie” has been a hugely popular collection for us and it’s back, this time a bit smaller, and in my opinion even cuter! The colour palettes have been reworked and I have to say that I’m totally in love with the pink colourway which is contrasted with a soft grey and has a hint of mint (rhyme intended). There are more animals too choose from and some old favourites too. There’s a selection of multicoloured cuties including adorable foxes, chicks, monkeys and owls.
Do you have a favourite? I think I’m a little bit in love with the pink elephants.
If you’ve been to one of our open days you’ll know that we like to lay on some refreshments and always have tea, coffee and some lovely cakes for you to nibble on. We know people can travel quite a distance to see us and we also know it’s always very welcome to get a brew when you arrive. Everybody is rather glad of the hospitality but so many people are surprised that it’s free and it’s been suggested that we should have a charity box so people can make a donation if they wish. I can’t help but glow with pride each time I think about this. I’ve always fancied being a travel writer but I’ll settle for writing for my favourite sewing magazines instead! This month’s Sewing World magazine has a handy guide to fleece fabrics penned by moi. It’s available in WH Smith or you can purchase a copy on line from Traplet’s online shop. Well it’s been a while since I penned anything for the blog, these past few months have been a whirlwind of activity here at Plush Towers. I can assure you I’ve been as busy as a busy thing and I’ve just not had time to sit down to write anything, but I’ve not been resting on my laurels. There are lots of things going on that I’m not quite ready to share with you yet but I hope today’s post will show you I’ve been beavering away in the background and not slacking off, oh no sirree.
