What is Insul-Bright?
Is your next project too hot to handle or too cold to hold? What you need is Insul-Bright! Learn all about Insul-Bright in this tutorial.
Insul-Bright is an insulated wadding that keeps hot things hot and cold things cold. It is made from metalised polyester film, with Polyester fibres needled through it. You can use it for a variety of simple yet practical projects for the family and the home.

I love Insul-Bright! I generally use it with a layer of natural (not synthetic) wadding as on it’s own it tends to be a little ‘skinny’. Additional wadding can also absorb moisture and this also helps to avoid heat transfer when using for things like pot mitts.
Because Insul-Bright is stable and doesn’t break down in the wash, it doesn’t need quilting as closely as regular wadding. I often quilt lightly without the Insul-Bright (particularly if I’m using traditional patchwork or Foundation Paper Piecing) and then add some additional quilting when I am putting the item together. You can see an example of it as a trivet/pot pad here in the 4th picture: https://www.instagram.com/p/BxKBc8snMo-/
Yes! Totally agree with all your points, the pot pad looks lovely too!
